BlueWave split midweek series with ABAC

FSCJ faced off with Georgia foe ABAC for a split midweek series held on Tuesday in Tifton (GA) and Wednesday in Jacksonville. The two teams held serve on each of their home fields for a series tie.

ABAC 11, FSCJ 3

Tifton, GA. - The ABAC Stallions used a pair of big homers to cap off four run innings in both the second and sixth to bookend an offensive day for the home squad. FSCJ scored one run apiece in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to get on the board. Blake Wood and Carson Womer had RBI singles for the Blue Wave. Noah Wood (0-1) took the loss for FSCJ on the mound, throwing 4 innings, allowing 5 runs on 3 hits, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts. Bryce Kemper (1.1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 2 K), Ethan Wilford (0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R), and Roman Smith (2 IP, 0 ER, 2 K) closed out the game in relief.

FSCJ 11, ABAC 7

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - FSCJ flipped the season script on Wednesday, taking their turns as the comeback kids. Down 5-1 going into the seventh inning, FSCJ plated 4 runs in the seventh and 6 in the eighth to win 11-7. The first run of the day for the Blue Wave came via a Jack Gidcumb (2) solo home run in the second inning that tied the game. A big Carson Womer two-RBI single along with two runs on wild pitches tied the game at 5-5 in the seventh. A little two-out magic in the eighth turned into 6 huge runs on another Womer two-RBI single, a bases-clearing three-RBI double from Matt Retamoza, and a Xavier Cintron RBI double off of the right field wall. ABAC hit two home runs in the ninth to pull it to 11-7. Retamoza and Cintron had three-hit games. Womer had a two-hit outing with 4 RBI. Jacob Ward garnered his first start of the year on the mound for FSCJ, going 5.2 innings, allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 5 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts.
