GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Santa Fe Softball extended their winning streak to five games with a high-scoring, 10-6 win in Game 1 against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, but the Fillies proceeded to salvage a split in the doubleheader with a 3-1 win in Game 2.
GAME 1 - SF 10, ABAC 6
The first five frames were littered with runs, as the two sides' bats started off swinging.
After the Fillies went ahead 1-0 in the first, a Story Giebeig single was muffed in the outfield to score the Saints' first run.
ABAC took a 3-1 lead in the second inning on a two-out double, but SF once again responded in a big way.
The Saints put up six runs in the bottom half of the second to take a 7-3 lead. SF's big inning was highlighted by a two-RBI double from Giebeig.
ABAC drew to within a single run, 7-6 following up an RBI double with a two-run long ball.
The final three runs belonged to Santa Fe in the fourth inning, however, after Keeli Zingaro had an RBI single and Madison Dixon crushed a two-run homer to center field.
Key Statistics
The ten-run game came along with ten hits. Two of the ten were extra-base knocks, with Giebeig's double and Dixon's homer. Each of them tied for the team-high with three RBI.
After starter Kaylie Araujo in the circle, Sophie Abrams and Calen Hayes each made appearances out of the bullpen. Hayes was credited with the win, holding the Fillies to just two hits and a walk in the final 2.2 innings of work.
GAME 2 - ABAC 3, SF 1
Game 2 began much differently than the first and became a pitcher's duel.
The ABAC starter, Madison Strickland, retired the first 12 hitters, and the Fillies were able to produce the first three runs of the game with one in the first and two in the fifth.
The Saints' lone run came from a solo shot from Zingaro in the sixth.
SF had the game-winning run come to the plate in the bottom of the seventh with runners on first and second, but the Fillies sealed the outcome with a K.
Key Statistics
Darian Ingram was the Saints' starter, and she made it threw five quality innings, conceding just four hits and three unearned runs. She walked two and struck out six. Abrams came in for the sixth and seventh and did well to keep ABAC off the board to give the Saints' bats the chance for a comeback.
SF had just four hits, with Zingaro's third home run of the season representing the lone run.

Santa Fe (11-5) will participate in the Courtney Miller Invitational at Boombah Solders Creek Park in Longwood, Fla. The Saints will play Polk State at 12:30 p.m., then go up against No. 1 Florida Southwestern State College at 4:45 p.m.
